Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of April, 2015. 

The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half (01-15/4/2015) of  April-2015 , Vietnam’s total exports of  US dollars 6.34 billion and imports  of  US dollars 7.2 billion resulted in a trade deficit of nearly US dollars 865 million. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of April was US dollars 13.54  billion, went down by 11.7% as compared to the second half of March-2015.
Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of April of 2015 totaled US dollars 88.4 billion in value terms. It posted a growth of 13.9% (equivalent to USD 10.82 billion) from the same period of  previous year. In which, the total merchandise exports value was up 9% to nearly US dollars 42.65 billion and the total merchandise imports value was up 18.9%, to US dollars 45.76 billion.
In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation and importation in the first half of April reached USD 4.3 billion and USD 4.33 billion respectively.
Export:
When compared with the second half of March-2015, export of  first half of April decreased by 12.3%, mostly as a result of the decline registered in textiles and garments (down by USD 143 million); computer, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (down by USD 122 million); machine, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (down by USD 91 million); telephone, mobile phones and parts thereof (down by USD 80 million)

Import:
 In the first half of April 2015, import decreased by 11.1% when compared with second half of March, mainly reflecting the shrunk of  machine, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (down by USD 251 million); computer, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof (down by USD 139 million); soya bean (down by USD 60 million); telephone, mobile phone and part thereof; wood and wooden products (down by USD 46 million)…
